Orphan Sunday…We are All Adopted

Recently I saw a picture of God’s redemptive love in action when friends of ours brought home the beautiful boy they’d adopted from Africa. Their journey to adopting little Zak* was fraught with roadblocks, political issues, twists and turns, hope and heartbreak. What should have taken less than a year stretched on for nearly three, and there were times when they almost lost hope. The resources they spent to bring their son home…emotional, spiritual, physical and financial…were almost beyond calculation. In the end, Zak’s daddy traveled to Africa twice in two weeks to bring his son home. He’s safe and thriving in his mother’s arms, surrounded by family who have loved him from afar for years and are overjoyed to have their son home at last.

There was a time when Zak had no idea that he had a family here in the U.S.; a father and mother who were longing to hold him, to love him and take care of him. He was unaware of their efforts to bring him home, of the lengths they would go to in order to make him part of their family. He didn’t do anything exceptional to deserve the love they gave him, in fact that love begin to grow in their hearts like wildfire even before they had met him, before they’d held his little hand or kissed his soft cheek….(Click Here to read the rest of the story at The Lulu Tree)
